Applying to Turku Law School
International students
Students from abroad can study in Turku Law School as exchange students or visiting students. Exchange students are those who have a formal agreement with their home university and the University of Turku. They may receive university credits which they may transfer to their studies at their home university. Exchange students are nominated by their home University. Visiting students are those who independently come to the university without having a formal exchange agreement.
An international student applying for Turku Law School should be registered as a law student at a foreign institution of higher education (studies should be recognized in the degree the applicant is pursuing in his/her home country). The student should also be familiar with basic legal concepts. Good command of English language is essential. However, no language tests are required but documents of the language skills must be attached to the application.

When applying from abroad as an exchange student the application deadline is 31 May for autumn term / academic year, and 1 November 2011 for spring term. When applying from abroad as a visiting student the same application deadlines apply. Please notice that only two best applications from applications that have arrived by the deadlines will be accepted.
Finnish students
For the degree students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Turku, TLS courses organized by the Faculty of Law are part of the optional courses in the degree studies. The registration procedure is the same as for the other optional studies. Please note, that in case of restricted entry, 1/3 of the places is reserved for the degree students of the Faculty of Law. For study modules organized by Åbo Akademi University, the student should fill in an electronic application form for flexible studies (JOO-opinnot). The application form can be found in: https://haku.joopas.fi/. For the study modules organized by the Turku School of Economics, students apply via NettiOpsu.
Degree students of the Åbo Akademi University, who wish to take study modules organized by the University of Turku, should fill in the electronic application form for flexible studies (JOO-opinnot).
A degree student of some other faculty of the University of Turku should apply for the right to do minor studies in the Faculty of Law unless the Turku Law School study module is part of the degree. Please contact the TLS coordinator in the Faculty of Law.
A degree student of some other Finnish university than University of Turku may get the right to do Turku Law School study modules on the basis of so called JOO agreement. Please contact the TLS coordinator in the Faculty of Law
Tuition fees
Tuition fee at Turku Law School is 10 € / ECTS credit (1 opintopiste) for the TLS courses organised by the Faculty of Law at the University of Turku. Students within an exchange programme or a bilateral agreement between the institutions are exempted from the fee.
Studies at Turku Law School are non-degree studies. Therefore, studying at Turku Law School will not result in obtaining a degree.
